Precast Arches is a platform dedicated to TechSpan® concrete arches: Visit Precastarches.com to download our catalogue and create your customised TechSpan® project

Our TechSpan® technology results from decades of research and development. A buried precast concrete arch, it generally consists of semi arch units that meet at the crown, supported by a footing sized for site-specific conditions. In precast arches, the backfill around the arch contributes to the resistance of the entire structure.

The system is designed to accommodate high fills, heavy live loads and altering loading conditions often associated with mining, industrial, road, and railway applications. TechSpan® is an ideal solution for tunnels, culverts, and underpasses for below-grade crossings.

To help you discover this solution, we have created a platform dedicated to everything TechSpan®. See project references, discover our TechSpan® catalogue, and create your own TechSpan® design with a free CAD (.dwg) drawing.

Customisable, low impact, and easy to install, TechSpan® is a staple in our range of CROSS and PROTECT solutions.

What are concrete precast arches?

Precast concrete arches are increasingly used in Australia’s large infrastructure projects such as roadways, railways, and mining due to their robust support and long-lasting durability. These arches, utlised for bridge underpasses, overpasses and covered tunnels offer significant benefits through innovative design and construction methods, making them ideal for modern engineering needs. One prominent example of such a solution is the TechSpan® arch provided by Reinforced Earth.

Precast concrete arches solutions, such as TechSpan®, offer numerous benefits for infrastructure projects. Their high load-bearing capacity, efficiency in construction, design flexibility, durability and space efficiency make them an ideal choice for modern civil engineering needs. They provide a blend of strength, efficiency and sustainability. The TechSpan® arch from Reinforced Earth exemplifies these benefits through its customised design and robust performance across various applications.

In a recent feat in 2024, the Southern Hemisphere’s largest precast arch was successfully installed at a mining site in Western Australia. Spanning an incredible 21m the arch forms a vital operational crossing over a road at the South32 mine.
