Design and Supply of TerraTilt® Precast Concrete Walls:

The Leach Highway and Welshpool Road Interchange, delivered by Main Roads WA, was a significant $150 million infrastructure project for Western Australia, which utlised TerraTilt® precast concrete walls by Reinforced Earth.

TerraTilt® is a precast concrete wall solution that was used in the construction of two bridges for the project. Completed in March 2023, the Interchange redevelopment addressed congestion and improved safety at what was once Perth’s most dangerous and second busiest intersection, used by 50,000 vehicles per day.

The project upgraded Leach Highway by building two new bridge overpasses – one over Welshpool Road to create a new grade separated interchange and one over Railway Parade and Sevenoaks Street, effectively doubling the capacity of the existing bridge in the location. As part of the project the road network between Orrong Road and Albany Highway was also upgraded.

Durable solutions, fast installation

TerraTilt® is a rectangular, full height, precast concrete wall retaining system by Reinforced Earth, unique to the Australian market.

The structures combine selected granular, engineered backfill with steel tensile reinforcements and a modular facing system. This unrivalled combination creates a durable, mass gravity retaining concrete wall capable of supporting its own weight, together with very high dead and live loads imposed by associated structures and vehicles. Manufactured and precast at our own factories, Reinforced Earth’s precast TerraTilt® walls are fast and easy to assemble onsite.
